Overview
The NQF level 4 Generic Management qualification will enable learners to demonstrate competencies in management relating to Planning, Organising, Leading, Controlling and Ethics. It introduces key terms, rules, concepts, principles and practices of management that will enable learners to be informed managers in any occupation. The scope of management covers four domains: leadership, self-management, people management and management practices. This qualification addresses each of these domains with generic competencies, thereby enabling learning programmes to be contextualised for specific sectors and industries.

Outline
The programme covers the following areas:
- Gathering and analysing information
- Analysing events that impact on a business and its competitive environment
- Complying with organisational standards
- Motivating an individual or team
- Negotiating in a work situation
- Understanding the role of business strategy as it applies to junior management
- Managing the budget within a specific area of responsibility
- Applying management principles and practices within a specific area of responsibility
The modules are as follows:
- Module 1: The manager, the law and the code of conduct
- Module 2: Contributing to the organisational strategy
- Module 3: Achieving team objectives
- Module 4: Responsibilities of a team leader
- Module 5: Managing team performance
- Module 6: Managing time
- Module 7: Leading and motivating a team
- Module 8: Conducting a meeting
- Module 9: Managing records and finances

Entry Requirements
- Matric OR English & Mathematical Literacy both at NQF level 4
- Certified copy of a South African ID or passport
- Certified copy of Matric/Grade 12 certificate (if applicable)
- Certified copy of highest qualification (if higher than Matric/Grade 12)
- Updated CV
- Letter from the learner’s employer or hosting company, confirming that the learner is employed or hosted by the company: Must be on the company letterhead
- Must include the learner’s names and surname (as per their ID or passport copy)
- Must include the learner’s ID/passport number
- Must state the learner’s job title and start date of employment
- If the learner is self-employed then business registration certificates need to be submitted
