A.C.T Work Readiness Programme

Programme: Work Readiness Training

Accredited/Non-accredited: Non-accredited

Location: Gauteng

Issue: In today's economy where the South African unemployment rate is quite high, many people are actively involved in job hunting activities.  However, it can become very demotivating if you apply for plenty of jobs and go for plenty of interviews but you remain unsuccessful.  Based on our experience of CVs we have received that were not up to standard, and the quality of interviews conducted, we realised that there are certain elements that individuals lacked when embarking on a job search and going through the recruitment process.  Many people did not know how to put together a good CV or how to conduct themselves in an interview.  Some even applied for positions they were not qualified for, with the hope that they might get one foot through the door.

Solution: In the spirit of giving back to the community and helping individuals increasing their chance of getting a job, we joined forces with our local church and offered free training to church members and others in the community.  We created the A.C.T (Action Creates Traction) programme to teach individuals the following:

  • Importance of acting and not waiting for opportunities to come to you
  • Know Yourself
  • Understand the Job Advert
  • Create a CV
  • Prepare for the Interview
  • Participating in the Interview
  • Social Media and Self Marketing

Many of the programme attendees came back to us saying that they were very grateful for the programme as there were so many things they never realised they were doing wrong.

By continuing with this initiative on a regular basis, we hope to help more people become more "work ready" and put out better quality CVs as well as making more informed decisions when embarking on a job search.  They will also be able to navigate better through the interview process, thereby increasing their chances of becoming successful.

Issue: The client for these projects operates in the aviation industry and they were looking for a provider who could deliver all 3 management programmes as 12-month learnerships within the same year.  They were specifically looking for a BBBEE Level 1 company who was accredited for all 3 programmes, and who had the capacity to deliver all the learnerships simultaneously.

Solution:  We ran the programmes concurrently and successfully delivered the work without compromising quality, cost and timelines.  Our competent facilitators and project co-ordinators continuously ensured that all 3 projects remained on track and that we delivered an excellent service to the client.  The client was kept informed through regular reporting and our Managing Director followed up with regular unannounced visits to the training sessions, as well as ad-hoc meetings with the client.

Venture Capital Training

Programme: Venture Capital Training

Accredited/Non-accredited: Non-accredited

Location: Gauteng

Issue: The request for this programme came about as one part of the client's core business involves the provision of funding to various businesses.  However, not all role players (department heads and portfolio managers) had the knowledge and tools required to make informed decisions from a venture capital investment point of view.

Solution: We were tasked with developing the training material and succeeded to do so by bringing in venture capital experts from the education and business sectors.  Our facilitator who delivered the programme also has a venture capital background, to ensure that the correct subject matter expert was being used to deliver a course of top quality to learners.  Training took place at the client site and the programme covered a broad spectrum of topics including due diligence tools, deal selection, exit strategies, opportunity valuation, the investor approach and much more.  The client was very happy with the content and overall delivery of the programme.

Financial Literacy

Programme: Financial Literacy

Accredited/Non-accredited: Non-accredited

Location: Gauteng

Issue: Our client wanted to educate their blue collar staff on managing their personal finances.  The emphasis was more on introducing the employees to basic education about managing finances and understanding various elements that need to be considered in order to remain financially healthy.  However, the requirement was for a quick but insightful and quality programme to be rolled out, without going through the process of POE evaluations and SETA evaluation processes.

Solution: Idleads was approached to develop customised content for the programme, along with practical tools that the learners could take away and apply in their own lives.  Due to time and availability constraints of learners, the programme was delivered to the 62 learners simultaneously.  They were split into groups and trained at various client sites by our facilitators.  Learners were happy with the new information that they were presented with and they were particularly happy with the practical tools that they could take back and use in future.

Generic Management NQF 4

Programme: Further Education and Training Certificate: Generic Management NQF 4

Accredited/Non-accredited: Accredited

Location: KwaZulu-Natal

Issue: Our client needed to up-skill their managers operating in the security industry.  The challenge they had was that many of the managers were good at managing work from a technical point of view, but they were lacking in certain areas when it came to managing people.  They also needed to develop a succession plan and identify potential managers for future gaps and requirements.

Solution: We delivered the Generic Management NQF 4 programme in order to meet the client's requirements.  The candidates for the programme were very eager and although they were really challenged in terms of time and work commitments, we were able to successfully deliver the learnership in the desired 12-month time allocation.
